Among the three papers I had to write, the descriptive essay was the one I was most comfortable and confident with because I was writing about a place I am familiar with. The place I chose to write about was my home, it gives me a sense of belonging and relief because my mother and I had finally settled into one place after moving around multiple times, living in poor conditions. I described the house from the exterior to the interior starting from before I enter through the gates. I provided too much sensory detail without explaining the significance. For example, I wrote about how their were a lot of black garbage bags in the basement, but didn’t explain how that shows a sense of belonging to the place. Another problem I had was that I didn’t state how I had been living in the place for a few months already, which caused confusion for the readers. In my final paper, I was able to fix the problems by elaborating and focusing on the main point of the essay. I felt the most accomplished writing this essay because I applied all the feedback I received from my peers and professor.
